Thank you for your interest in joining our 2026 Community Dye Batch!
This year, we're changing up our dye batch structure from being a monthly reoccurance, to more intentional through sign up volume.
As soon as we have enough participants, a color vote will go out before drop-off (check our Instragram @sandboxvt). Sign up using form below!
We recommend natural fibers for the best results such as cotton, linen and silk (not wool unfortunately). Smaller items (approximately 10 ounces or so) such as shirts, skirts, tank tops, scarves, pillowcases and lightweight pants and dresses are all great candidates.
Some nylon and cotton/poly blends will take dyes, depending on the fabric percentage and can be unpredictable and it can be a little bit of a risk. Synthetic fabrics such as 100% polyester will not usually take our dye and are not recommended.
Please no bedsheets, chunky knits or oversized items.
DROP OFF : Once our form is completed (see below), we will send you a drop off date, confirmation and invoice which you can pay online or in person. *Please note that our emails often get lost in junk folders, so add us to your contacts to not miss our notes! hello@sandboxvt.com

Dyeing clothing feels a little bit like alchemy.🪄
It’s a mysterious mix of materials, and the results are almost always surprising. But that’s what’s exciting about it, something stained and abandoned can be transformed by color, and even imperfections from the garment’s history just adds to the character.
Our set-up is a small and simple one, intended just to revive and rescue stained clothing so that it can stay in your closet longer. 💚
If you haven’t done one of our dye batches before, here’s what you should know;
✨Our process does not use much heat or agitation, which is great for delicate fabrics and also creates very cool tonal variations. Each piece becomes totally unique.
✨Small, lightweight items made from natural fibers are best (think button down shirts, cotton tees, silk tank tops, linen dresses etc).
✨Pre-washing is SUPER important. Things like dry cleaning chemicals, sweat, bleach and other laundry treatments can show up in unpredictable ways when dyed. We recommend using a detergent that does not have lots of chemical perfumes or fabric softeners.
Items are priced by size and weight.

Cancellations: Any cancellation must be made at least 48 hours in advance for a refund of 50% off the total cost . If special projects are requested and materials purchased prior to cancellation, the deposit will be utilized for covering the extra material cost.
